Your Ad Platforms Are Optimizing on Incomplete Data.
Your tracking can still look perfectly healthy in Google Tag Manager or GA4 while a significant part of your customer journey remains invisible to your advertising platforms. I build server-side tracking systems that recover lost conversion signals, improve attribution, and give your ad platforms better data to optimize on.
Client-side tracking was built for a different internet.
The traditional setup lives entirely in the browser: an ad writes a cookie, your pixel later reads it, and the conversion is attributed from there.

Conversion
The problem is that the browser is no longer a reliable place to collect and transmit every signal.
- Tracking scripts can be blocked.
- Cookies can expire or be restricted.
- Identifiers can disappear between devices.
- Consent requirements can limit what you are allowed to collect.
The result? Your campaigns may generate conversions that your advertising platforms never fully see. And when the platforms receive incomplete signals, their algorithms have less information to attribute, learn from, and optimize against.
Server-side tracking moves critical logic to your infrastructure.
Instead of sending everything directly from the user’s browser to every marketing platform, events are routed through a server-side environment that you control. This gives you much more control over what data is collected, how it is processed, and what each platform receives.

What a proper server-side setup can improve
Conversion signal quality
Send conversion events directly from your backend or server-side container instead of relying exclusively on browser pixels.
This can help advertising platforms receive signals that would otherwise be lost through browser restrictions, blocked scripts, or cookie limitations.
Attribution
Preserve campaign and first-party identifiers throughout the customer journey and pass them to the platforms that need them.
Make your measurement reflect the way your customers actually convert.
Pinterest, TikTok, Openai, Snapchat, Reddit, Microsoft Ads and Meta performance signals
Implement Pinterest, TikTok, Openai and Meta Conversions API alongside the browser Pixel, with proper event deduplication.
This creates a more robust event pipeline and can improve the quality and consistency of signals available to Meta’s optimization systems.
Google Ads conversion matching?
Implement Google Enhanced Conversions using appropriately hashed first-party customer data.
This can help Google match conversions that may otherwise be difficult to attribute because of cookie loss or cross-device behavior.
Data infrastructure
Move critical tracking infrastructure onto your own domain and server environment.
Instead of depending entirely on third-party scripts, you build a first-party data layer that you control.
Data enrichment
A conversion isn’t just a conversion. Your backend may already know order value, product margin, customer type, lead quality, subscription value, LTV, or purchase status.
I can help connect these business signals so platforms optimize on business outcomes, not just raw conversion volume.
What I implement
Server-Side GTM
I deploy and configure a Google Tag Manager Server-Side container using Google Cloud Run, Stape, or your existing server environment.
- sGTM architecture
- Custom domain
- Event routing & validation
- Tag migration, logging, monitoring
Pinterest, TikTok, Openai, Snapchat, Reddit, Microsoft Ads and Meta Conversions API
I implement Pinterest, TikTok, Openai, Snapchat, Reddit, Microsoft Ads and Meta CAPI to send conversion events from your server directly to Meta, with browser and server events in parallel.
- Purchase, lead, registration
- Event ID & deduplication
- User data matching
- Parameter mapping & quality checks
Google Ads Enhanced Conversions
I configure Enhanced Conversions so hashed first-party customer information can be used alongside conversion events.
This helps Google identify conversions that standard browser-based tracking may not match reliably.
First-party tracking
Architectures around your domain, infrastructure, and existing analytics stack.
- First-party cookies & custom domains
- Persistent campaign identifiers
- Backend conversion events
- Cross-platform event routing
The objective isn’t to « beat » browser privacy controls. It’s to build tracking that works within them.
I don’t just install a server-side container.
A server-side GTM container by itself doesn’t magically fix attribution. The important part is the architecture behind it. You have to consider your website, CMS, Backend, CRM, CMP, Analytics and Ad platforms.
I identify where valuable signals are currently being lost. The result is a tracking architecture designed around your actual customer journey and business model, not a generic template.
Privacy isn’t an afterthought.
Server-side tracking is not a loophole around consent requirements. Moving tracking to a server does not remove your privacy obligations. A properly designed implementation should make it easier to control data before it is forwarded to third parties.
Consent-aware tracking
I integrate server-side tracking with your existing consent framework and configure Google Consent Mode where required. Your users’ consent choices remain the source of truth.
Data minimization
Before an event reaches an advertising platform, data can be validated, filtered, transformed, hashed, enriched and routed. Only the data that should be transmitted gets transmitted.
Controlled data flows
Centralize marketing data flows through infrastructure you control. More visibility. More control. Fewer black boxes.
From broken signals to a reliable data pipeline.
Audit
I check the existing tracking, conversion flows, consent, cookies, identifiers, and ad integrations.
Plan
I design the plan before anything is built: where the server-side container will run, which events leave the browser, and what each platform should receive.
Implement
I build the server-side infrastructure and connect it to your marketing stack such as Google Ads, Meta, BigQuery or a CRM.
Validate
Events are tested against real customer journeys: parameters, identifiers, consent, deduplication, attribution, platform reception.
Handover
I document the setup, the data flows, and the key configurations to ensure that you get system your team can understand and maintain.
